To frame the situation, let's start by saying that during 2022, 44 million Italians surfed the internet every month (data referring to users aged 2 years and over), equal to 74.8% of the population (+0.4% compared to to 2021). On an average day, however, 36.8 million people did so, equal to 62.6% of the population (+0.4%).
The preferred access tool remains the smartphone, used by 39.2 million people India Mobile Number Data every month (+1.2%) and by 34.1 million every day (+2.3%). It is important to point out that, in this case, the reference universe is represented by users aged 18-74 (both for use on computers and mobiles). At the moment, mobile browsing by children under 18 is not recorded, so it is likely that the impact of services used mainly on the move by this segment of the population is underestimated. Italian social media users Considering the monthly averages of 2022, the social network most used by Italians was YouTube, which collected an audience of 36.4 million people per month (+3%). Not far away is Facebook, which recorded an average of around 35.6 million users (+2%).
On the podium we once again find Instagram with 35 million users (+6%) In fourth position is Linkedin, which overtakes Pinterest, with an audience of 18 million followers. Not far behind is TikTok, which makes a leap of 68% with its 16.2 million users. In reality, looking at the trend of the first months of 2023, the Chinese app has gained new followers, reaching almost 21 million users in May (the updated data on the page dedicated to social media statistics ). In fifth place is Telegram with 16 million users, down 6%. Twitter, bought at the end of 2022 by Musk, is growing by 31% and conquering just over 15 million people (May data brings it to 18 million).
